Fatherhood
What will I do if you come uninvited?

The stars won't align prior,

And the sun won't be bright.

No one is expecting you here, child.

Will I build a dam to keep you at bay?

Or will I erect walls to distance us from you?

Whatever it may be,

Always be sure,

That I'll do all in my power to stop you where you stand,

And send you back.

Because son, it's not your time,

And though I desperately long to see you again,

There are people that need you more,

And more importantly, you need them.

So don’t bother coming,

And don’t bother knocking,

We will meet when it's due time.

And if in the end,

You'll burst through the dam,

And tear down the walls,

And find yourself here with me,

Oh sweet boy,

Birds will no longer chirp,

Trees will no longer sing,

The moon will lose its haunting glow,

Wolves at mountain peaks will howl a mournful cry,

And I'll be there too,

Broken hearted and shattered,

To welcome you and hold your hand,

Forever,

My child.
